She Geared is a modern kind of social network in the Ottawa- Gatineau region through which young, ambitious and determined entrepreneurs gain the capability, knowledge and skills to turn their ideas into a business. The organization is unique in that it is the only organization geared toward young woman with an interest in entrepreneurship; you do not need to have an established business to join.
She Geared provides members with access to great resources, interesting speakers and personal mentors through new digital mediums and unique events.

Founders Story
After returning from a year of studying in Paris, I came back to Canada with numerous new business ideas some of which I was interested in trying out in Ottawa. Knowing the amount of work involved in turning an idea into a business I wanted some advice on how to proceed but had no idea where to start? Even with all my previous networking, I had a hard time finding knowledgeable professionals that actually had time to discuss business ideas. I figured that if I as a student am having this much trouble finding mentors, financing, and even people with a common interest there are probably a lot of other young women going through the same thing.
I found two big problems with previous entrepreneurial communities, they were either for established business owners, and/or they were largely technology based. Why is it so often that people don’t have time for you until you are established and your company is generating profits? Great! Where were you when I was broke, living in my parents van? lol, jk!
That’s what She Geared is for! On my journey to launch my current venture, and my past work with other creative companies, I’ve accumulated some knowledge, connections and resources along the way which I would like to share with other young women! As it turns out, Ottawa is a great place to start a business, it’s just a bit tricky trying to find and decipher all the resources available.
